about
It all began in the unlikeliest of places, a road trip far from the familier confines of central Alabama, into the remote, beautiful world of the American Southwest. With only a disposable camera, I attempted to capture the splendor of what I was witnessing at the time.
The Colorado Rockies seemed to rise endlessly into a blue sky not known to exist. The majestic spires of Monument Valley stood in the vastness of the Utah desert and the Grand Canyon plunged deep into the Arizona crust.
My disappointment at the washed out, over exposed images from a trip of a lifetime was bitter. Yet, an inspiration was born, an ambition to capture those scenes and those from future journeys in "a different light."
Through trials by error, research and field experiments, I have been fortunate to create images featured nationally in several publications including "Arizona Highways" and North Carolina's "Our State" magazines's. Work has also been featured in Tennessee State Parks.
My photography, like the roads travelled has taken many turns. My journeys feature the Appalachian Mountains of North Carolina I now call home but also the Florida wetlands and of course the American Southwest, where it all began.
